# Attachments

## What are orthodontic attachments & auxilliaries?

Orthodontic attachments and auxiliaries are small devices used together with braces or clear aligners to help achieve specific tooth movements more effectively.

These may include crimpable hooks and stops (to attach elastics or control wires), buttons (for elastic wear or traction), tongue tamers (to discourage tongue thrusting habits), bite openers (to prevent deep bites and allow teeth to move), and eruption appliances with a small traction chain (to guide impacted teeth into their proper position). These attachments are temporary, customized to your treatment needs, and are removed once they are no longer required.
